Clutch Night for PGs

Last night there were 2 great games and I had the pleasure of watching them both. The Thunder and Celtics game was very up and down, with Boston committing too many turnovers for their own good. Neither the Lakers nor Mavericks could hit any shots, but the game ended with nothing less than an amazing clutch three by an amazing clutch player.

If I recall correctly, The Celts and Thunder were tied towards the end of the third until the Cs decided to turn the ball  over (what seemed to be) 5 straight times and found themselves with a double digit deficit (say that 5 times fast). Kevin Garnett didn't look like himself, Paul Pierce looked more like himself than he has this season and Ray Allen did absolutely nothing. Rondo was playing decently besides way too many turnovers. The surprise-ish hero was Westbrook, hitting a HUGE 3 to seal the game.

Now talk about defense...or just no offense...but the Lakers-Mavericks game was one of the lowest scoring games I've seen in a looong time (Lakers 7 points in the 4rd quarter??). Kobe's shot looked terrible, Pau was barely doing anything and the whole team was a mess. The Lakers undoubted hero? DEREK FISHER. He was putting up points like it was his job at the end of the fourth, oh and the game winning 3 with 3 seconds left didn't hurt too much either. Awesome game, this is why I love sports

Hornets Burned by Suns. Clips Give Bulls a Good Run?

Did you see the Suns@Hornets game? No? Good, because it was terrible. For some reason I watched the whole game and there wasn't a single good play that I can remember...and the game ended 20 minutes ago. The Suns remind me of the Warriors a few years ago when they were nothing more than a random run and gun team, yet the Hornets looked worse, converting on maybe 30% of their shots (MAYBE). Glad that was over, good win Suns? Just be glad the Hornets played worse than you did.

The Bulls@Clippers game just started and the first play was a huge duk by Blake Girffin...and as I typed that he hit a nice fadeaway shot. I think the Bulls will still win this game once it all settles down, but the pace has been crazy to start the first. (LOB CITY, honestly ridiculous...they just just throw the ball up to Griffin and let him do the rest). This is just going to be a fun game to watch...Derrick Rose (MVP), Blake Griffin (ROY and Dunk Contest Winner), Chris Paul (one of the best PGs) and DeAndre Jordan (a beast). 10 alley-oops this game? Sounds about right

Lakers-Clippers Preseason Finale

So after watching watching the second to last day of preseason basketball featuring the Lakers "at" the Clippers (they share the same court), I am sold on the Clippers starting lineup. They all play hard and play together (one stat that comes to mind was that they had 20 assists on their first 24 field goals), and if someone slips through their defense, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan can leap from across and pick up a block. Don't believe me? Watch Metta World-Peace's attempted lay-up at the end of the game...he has a great spin and what seems to be an open lay-up. Out of nowhere comes DeAndre to block it and, of course, keep it in bounds to secure the turnover.

The Lakers didn't look too bad at times, and at other times looked terrible. Given they were without some guy called Kobe Bryant who I think is pretty good, but the only way they will go far in the playoffs this year is if the whole team can help out the aging Bryant. Andrew Bynum was a beast in the first half, but we have seen this before. Can he keep it up for a whole game?? Or even more important, a whole season?? (or even a shortened 66 game season). Only time can tell...

My First Blog

Let me start by saying that I have no idea if anybody will actually read this, but if you love the NBA like I do then it could be worth your time (or at least a little bit of fun) to read this/post comments. I am hoping to have this be a debate forum (respectfully) for NBA fans to tell me how wrong about I am about my picks or how awesome I am at blogging.

Now we are only a few days away from the start of the 2011-2012 regular season and I couldn't be more excited. Lot's of big name free agents (mind you it's nothing like what we saw last year with Lebron and Bosh) that can make big impacts on various teams.

I can't wait to see CP3 and Blake Griffin play together...oh and DeAndre Jordan won't hurt in that mix either. They are saying it will be "lob city", which is pretty evident from their first preseason game. Now if they will be a true threat in the West depends on how they work as a team and PLAY DEFENSE, but having 2 ridiculous leapers should help to protect the paint.

I have heard only bad things about the Celtics...Jeff Green out for the season, Pierce already hurt (or is he faking it like the Finals vs the Lakers??), Ray Allen butthurt that David West didn't join them, Rondo on the trading block...the only good thing that has happened to them is the acquisition of Brandon Bass (who is an absolute beast). The short season should benefit this old man's team, let's see if they can make it through 66 games.

I'm not actually going to talk about every team (not yet at least), but those just came to my mind first. Can't wait for Sunday...
